Dear Friends,
This is the year. This is the year the PMC will his the $1 billion mark. What a long, strange, and wonderful trip it's been.
Twenty eight years ago, in 1996, my brother Steve lost his beloved wife Sandy Blumberg Shulman to cancer. Steve, Sandy, and I had volunteered at the PMC since its creation in 1980. Steve had also ridden the event for several years. In 1996 I joined him on the ride. I have not missed one since.
This August, Steve and I will once again take to the road to honor Sandy, and to bring strength to all whose lives are touched by cancer. The past decades have seen enormous progress in the fight against cancer. Cutting edge research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute has created new diagnostic tools and therapies that were unimaginable in 1996. Doctors can now offer hope to patients with cancers that were considered incurable even 10 years ago.
Your generous donations have helped fuel this progress. And while we've made enormous strides, the battle is still not won. I hope you'll want to sponsor our ride this year. Every dollar Steve and I raise will go to the Sandra Blumberg Shulman fund at Dana-Farber.The Fund supports the work of Dr. Judy Garber. Dr. Garber is the Chief of the Division for Cancer Genetics and Prevention at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her lab studies clinical cancer genetics, with a special focus in the genetics of breast cancer.
Thank you for your support and sponsorship. With your help, we can truly make cancer history.
Warm Regards, Steve and Ken.
