This is my 33rd consecutive year riding with our small team of cancer fundraisers. I can’t explain how significant this ride is for me. We started many years ago, just trying to honor our parents we had lost to Cancer. Since then, we have lost more loved ones, but also have watched people we love fight and beat cancer, some specifically due to treatments invented at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Since we started, Team Morris has raised just short of a million dollars for the PMC. We have had over 30 different people join us for the ride and others who volunteered. We have all learned the most important PMC lessons: Cape Cod is not flat, heat is better than rain, the dunes in P-Town suck but are the source of much pride when vanquished, cold Harpoon beer never tastes better than at the finish on day one, and the volunteers are true heroes.

The one thing we all know for sure, the pedal partner posters of kids fighting cancer lining the road before the third waterstop on day one will bring you to tears every time. Nothing really hurts after seeing all those huge smiles despite their own battle against cancer.

The legs are older than when we started. Training is harder. The ride isn’t quite the same pace as it once was. But our hearts are more full than ever with love for all those that sponsor, ride, volunteer, and most importantly, fight cancer and get care at the Dana Farber.

I will end by simply saying thank you. You have allowed me to do something I love for over 30 years. I am grateful beyond words for your support.
