Dear family and friends,
On August 2nd and 3rd I will be riding in my 7th Pan Mass Challenge ride with the Red Sox Team 9. I will join over 6,000 cyclists in the 46th PMC ride, an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DCFI) in Boston. We will be riding our bikes 162 miles from Wellesley, Massachusetts to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod. Our Team 9 is named after baseball legend, Ted Williams, who was always a great supporter of the Jimmy Fund.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has contributed $1.047 billion to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which uses those funds for cancer research and treatment. This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure.
I have lost many loved ones to cancer and know too many others who are presently battling this horrible disease. I will be wearing ribbons in their honor and in their memory. I am dedicating this ride to my dear friends Stacy and Tim Wakefield. I will carry their strength and spirit in my heart always! They dedicated their lives to serving others and generously gave of their time and resources to the Jimmy Fund. Just as they did, we want to do everything we can to help in the fight against cancer!
Today, I am asking for YOUR support! I've made a personal commitment to ride and raise $10,000. Every donation brings us closer by the mile. No amount is too small to help in this fight against cancer. Anything you can donate WILL help!!!
If you are interested in making a donation you can do so on-line at http://pmc.org/egifts/KN0049. With your support we are 163 miles closer to finding a cure against cancer.
If there is someone special to you that you would like me to ride in honor/memory of, please let me know and his or her name will be included on my jersey.
I thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity and prayers.
Be Blessed,
Kathryn
