On August 5th and 6th of this year, I will once again be cycling the Pan-Mass Challenge, a 192-mile 2-day charity bike ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts. The PMC bike-a-thon is the largest athletic charity fundraiser in the nation. As of the end of 2022, the charity has raised over $900 million over its lifetime and will probably surpass $1 billion this year. The PMC is staffed entirely by over 4,000 volunteers, like my daughter did, enabling them to donate 100% of the money raised for cancer research and for the care of adult and pediatric cancer patients.

This August, nearly 8,000 riders will participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge, representing 40 states and 7 countries. The overall fundraising goal is $60 million and my personal goal is $8,500. While some of the riders are dedicated triathletes, I am strictly a weekend warrior who just wants to do his part. I’m joining in to honor those who have suffered and died and to raise the money to end this scourge.
