Here's an uplifting story and a powerful motivation for you to support the PMC. This past fall, my daughter Hannah received her white coat during a ceremony where she is enrolled in the nursing program at the University of Vermont. The ceremony came 11 years after her leukemia diagnosis, and 9 years since remission. The committment is a testament to her resilience and determination. She's driven to give back, inspired by the compassionate nurses who were her pillars of strength during her treatment at the Jimmy Fund and Boston Children's Hospital.
A decade ago, Hannah embarked on an arduous, more than two-year battle with cancer. There were no guarantees and there were many sleepless nights. Against all odds, she emerged victorious and has been living cancer-free since September 2013. Her journey began in 2012, as a fourth grader. It's a long story with lots of twists and turns but after a relapse one of the doctors explained that her best chance for long-term survival was a bone marrow transplant from a 100% matching donor. The two most likely donors were her brother and sister, each with a 25% chance of being a match. Our prayers were answered as Caitlyn was that match!
And now Caitlyn is joining me to raise money for cancer research. We're committed to riding the PMC to raise research dollars for cancer.
We also ride in honor of the memory of my parents Richard and Patricia Keenan and also for my mother-in-law, Carol Caprio, all lost to cancer Their absence is deeply felt every day.
The groundbreaking advancements that gave Hannah and countless others a new lease on life rely heavily on private donations. Our gratitude knows no bounds for the support Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund have received through events like the PMC.
This August, I'm gearing up to participate in the PMC alongside Caitlyn and a group of committed friends and their families. It's an event we eagerly anticipate. I invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavor by making a contribution to this noble cause. Your support can make a world of difference!
Thank you!
