Why I Ride ...
This August, I’ll be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) once again to raise money in the fight against cancer, in honor of my niece, Eva. I hope you’ll join me in this effort.
Eva is now 7 years old, and was diagnosed with leukemia when she was just two and a half. She has achieved remission three times, but her journey is far from over. Recently, her family got the news that the type of leukemia she had before (B-ALL) hasn't come back. However, she has now developed a different blood disorder (often associated with the extensive chemo and radiation she has had) that puts her at high risk of developing another type of leukemia called AML.
To combat this, Eva will undergo more chemo and another bone marrow transplant, with her twin brother, Joey, serving as her donor once again.
The emotional and physical toll of cancer treatment on Eva, her parents, and Joey is immense.
Every dollar raised through the PMC goes directly to support cancer research at Dana-Farber, funding innovations that aim to create better and more effective treatments. I plan to ride 182 miles and hope to raise at least $6,000 for this important cause.
I invite you to join me on this journey of compassion and determination. Whether through monetary contributions, spreading the word, or even joining me on a training ride, your support will be a powerful beacon of hope—not just for Eva, but for all those facing the challenges of this relentless disease. Together, let's pedal toward progress and brighter tomorrows. Thank you!
