Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing to humbly ask for your support again as I prepare to ride the 2018 Pan-Mass Challenge to be held on August 4-5, 2018. The PMC is a 200+ mile fundraiser in which you bike from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA. This will be my 15th ride.
The reasons for riding again are too many to list but I would like to honor my brother-in-law and continue to ride in my Aunt Cathy’s memory, for she is the reason I started riding over 20 years ago! I also ride for all of your loved ones whose names will be displayed on my bike.
I am riding as a member of the Pedaling Paesans. This team was formed by the many Hamilton/Galluzzo family members that ride and has grown each year to now include some special friends as well.
In making a donation, it can be made to me individually or to our team (if there are several of us that are asking you for a donation). Also, if your company does matching for charitable donations, please consider that as a great way of doubling or tripling your donation. Each team member needs to raise $4,900. That is huge a commitment to fundraise! We could use all the help we can get!

You can donate online or by sending a check payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund. Checks can be mailed to: Kim Galluzzo, 20 Victoria Drive, Londonderry, NH 03053

2012 Update to ride
Just wanted to report about the ride. Well I did make it but it was the toughest one yet. Yes, I hardly trained and yes, I am 49 years old but what made it difficult was the extreme heat and humidity. I almost quit at Mile 85 as I was starting to get dehydrated. One of my riding friends, Sarah, was in extreme pain and I wanted her to take a ride as I would have jumped right in with her! So many were quitting at that point. I tried using my mental strategies that have gotten me through so many years but this year, they weren't working as well.
But.... After sitting for a while and eating and drinking and having multiple ice packs cooling my body down, we started up again and I rebounded completely. In fact, we didn't even get off our bikes at the last waterstop, we just filled our water bottles and continued right on. I set out on those last 10 miles feeling energized and strong. I love that last part of the ride and the adrenaline definitely gets me through it!
Day 2, we woke up to temps of 84 and high humidity again at 5:00 a.m. It rained a little 2 hours into the ride and that cooled things down for us but also made us very soggy and dirty. The heat came back when the sun shone through the clouds with about 30 miles to go so it got tough again but we prevailed.
The ride definitely beat me up but I'm recovering well. The bottom line is that I am healthy and strong and have so much to be thankful for.
Thanks for the support and the love -- it means a lot!Kim

Dearest Family and Friends,
I’m back! After a 1-year break from the Pan Mass Challenge (200 mile bike fundraiser to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund), I am signed up again for my 13th ride on August 4 & 5! I hope all is well with you and your families. My family and I continually thank God for our good health and the many blessings we have. Riding 200 miles on a bike is still a daunting challenge and gets more difficult each year that I am older but the reasons to ride are more compelling than ever as more loved ones are stricken with cancer each year.
This year I am riding for a dear friend of mine, Kris Pignone. Kris started her breast cancer journey in October. Kris received her treatments at Dana-Farber, right here in Londonderry. Let me tell you a little more about Kris…
We met on 9/11/01 -- when John Michael and her daughter, Jessi, started preschool on that dreadful day. At that time, Josh and her son, Derik, were infants and to this day, they are still best friends! We marvel at their lifelong friendship/bond of 10+ years, but that bond is not unique to just our children, I am so blessed to have Kris as a best buddy (or biddy as we like to say). Kris is one of those people that will do anything for anyone because she cares so much, she is always positive and happy, and never thinks of herself first! During her treatments, that spirit never wavered and she is an inspiration to all that know her. I am very happy to report that she is doing well and feeling great. She is a trooper and has never once complained. For those of you that know Kris, this is no surprise!
For those that have been supporting me for all of these years, THANK YOU. I hope that your circumstances allow you to donate again this year. If you are getting this letter for the first time, welcome to the PMC, where 100% of every rider-raised dollar benefits Dana-Farber through its Jimmy Fund. We have certainly raised a lot of dollars ? over $35 million dollars last year and over $338 million since 1980. Last year, the PMC was responsible for 60% of the Jimmy Fund’s revenue and we are the single largest contributor to Dana-Farber. WE CERTAINLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Please check out my profile at www.pmc.org/profile. If you type in my name, you’ll find me. There you can donate online if you wish. Checks can be made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund. Please let me know if you would like to add a name of someone who has been touched by cancer. I keep a list on my bike and read their names over and over. It is an honor to ride for so many.
Best wishes for a fun, healthy and happy summer!
Love and peace,
Kim
