Why I Ride ...
The Pan-Mass Challenge is something that I have always talked about doing. I have now participated four years in a row and am about to embark on training for my fifth year to raise money for cancer research for the Dana-Farber Institute. Traditionally, the bicycle ride starts in Sturbridge, MA and ends in Provincetown, MA at the tip of Cape Cod after traveling almost 200 miles over the course of two days. This year I will again be riding the Reimagined route and plan on a ride on the PMC weekend. Each year I have gone a longer distance then the previous year with my longest ride being nearly 83 miles last year. This year I'm going to make it minimum of 100 miles!
The PMC is designed so that 100% of the funds raised by the riders goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since it began in 1980, the PMC has contributed $767 million to support cancer research and treatment. I am riding to do my part and help raise money for this important cause, and I'm riding for those who continue to battle and struggle every day. If they can fight daily with the strength and determination I have seen, then I can certainly ride however far it takes to help find a cure. This year as a rider in the Reimagined route, I plan to raise a minimum of $2,000 for the cause. If you are able to donate to my ride, please follow the link below to my PMC donation page. I have already begun training and will be posting pictures and updates until the event at the end of the summer. Thank you all for your support!
