Please support my ride; if you leave the name of a person for whom you wish to remember or honor, I will keep them in my heart as I ride.
Non Sibi, Sed Toti (not for self, but for all)
I’m back for my 6th PMC as part of Team Courage Coneheads. With the help of donors like you and sponsors, I have raised $63,500 over the past six years. This year the PMC is poised to surpass the $1B mark for fundraising – you can be part of this important milestone.
Why should you give --- every rider raised dollar whether by donations or sponsorships goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute to fund their treatment and research. Even if you do not live near Boston, the research benefits patients around the world.
Why am I riding – I am riding to raise money in honor of and memory of family and friends who have been impacted by cancer so that others who are fighting the battle of their lives may be helped as well.
To give an idea of the magnitude of the challenge of cancer, I am providing a list below of people in my life who this diagnosis has impacted (called out with initials to protect their privacy).
- Deceased from cancer; C.T., A.B., J.T., L.W., A.Z., L.G., P.M., D.M., D. W., E. M., W.T., R.D., A.S., R.M., E.D., J.W., M.F., D.R., M.H, P.D., J.M.
- Deceased with cancer; M.Z., J.P.
- Fighting cancer; J.T. (friend and fellow cyclist), R.C. (wife of a friend and fellow cyclist), M.S. (family friend), CS (family friend).
- Survived cancer; R.Z., T.H., Jr., M.D., J.C., A.K., S.M. M.C., J.W., R.S.
There is a distinct pattern here and if you take a moment and make a similar list you will see a similar pattern. The list of people who a have or have had cancer is too long and the list of survivors is too short. In fact, “R.C.” is going to be seeking a referral to Dana Farber as I write this.
Please support my ride to whatever extent you are able if not for the people honored here for the people in your life or any person who could be on the list.
