Hi, I'm Jacob. This first PMC ride means a lot to me.
My parents have been riding since before I was born. As a kid, when my parents and their friends went on their long training rides, my job was preparing lunch and sandwiches for their return. I always looked up to them, thinking one day, I want that to be me.
For a while, the dream of riding was just to follow in my family's footsteps. We have always been a close-knit biking and PMC family. But 5 years ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Shortly after she passed away, my dream of riding took on a new meaning.
The summer of 2023 was the first summer I wanted to ride. Unfortunately it didn't work out logistically, so I trained for a half-marathon instead, raising $1,500 for PanCan, an organization helping to treat individuals with the same cancer that took my grandmother.
This summer is my real first ride. A childhood of biking influence mixed with personal motivation from cancer taking the lives of my loved ones has culminated in this moment. I'm beyond excited. Thank you for supporting my journey.
