I"M COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT!!!
2017 will be my fourth year of riding in the Pan Mass Challenge, and I can't wait to be back pedaling with such an INSIRING group of people!
Every year since I started supporting, and then riding in the PMC the list of people I know effected by cancer has grown exponentially. My first year I rode the 192 miles, I remembered those effected by scrolling their names on my legs. This year, I cannot fit all the names I need to honor on my legs. So instead, I ask you all to help me honor them by donating to the cause to FIGHT CANCER.
We've all come in contact with friends and family members who have stories of fighting cancer. In 2010, I had two people in my life whose stories emerged - Mimi and Big Fran. Their battles gave me inspiration every day. I thought the least I could do was to help raise money for cancer research by riding a few hundred miles on my bike!!!! The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) has become a weekend every year that I look forward to - a two day cycling event in August, taking me 192 miles across Massachusetts and ending at the tip of Cape Cod.
Since my first year riding, Big Fran lost his battle to cancer after a great fight. He was like a second dad to me, so in memory of him, I RIDE. In memory of my 38 year old friend who passed away a few years ago from melanoma, I RIDE. In celebration and memory of Mimi & Jim's anniversaries of passing away, I RIDE. In honor of Pam D, who is still fighting breast cancer, I RIDE. To support my good friend Geoff, a cancer survivor, I RIDE. And many more...
Please help me honor these special people in my life, as well as those in your life who fight this disease every day. The minimum goal to ride in the PMC is to raise at least $4200. I'd love to think I know 42 people who can contribute $100 or more to this great cause. But please feel free to donate as much as you think is appropriate. The last time I rode I raised almost $15,000 thanks to all of your generosity!!! Can we all get to $20K this year??? PLEASE HELP ME.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's (DFCI) tireless commitment to finding a cure. Over the last 31 years, $303 million has been for this cause!!!
To donate, please visit my PMC Profile at http://www.pmc.org/JS0626 or click https://www.pmc.org/egifts/JS0626 to directly access the online giving page. If you'd prefer to send a check, please make it payable to the PMC, Jimmy Fund, DFCI, or any combination of the three. Checks can be sent to: Jason Statuta 2090 Meadowbrook Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22903
Thank you very much for your help and generosity!!!
