Hello Friends and Family,
Eight years ago, I was done with riding PMC, yet here I am again. As in the past, sometimes
when you feel so helpless you do the only thing you can that feels like you’re making a
difference, something that lets all those suffering know that they are not alone. I see you, I feel
you, and I’ve not given up on you. Together with my daughter Ali, sister Dani, niece Taylor, and
over 6000 other riders, we will ride the Pan Mass Challenge, the single largest fundraiser for
Dana Farber Cancer Center. Riding PMC is the only way I know that I can let all those I know and
love, and all those I don’t know, know that there is an army out there riding for each of you.
This year, nudged by Ali, I agreed to ride PMC for all those I know, and knew, who have had to
deal with the ugliness that is cancer and for their families. I’ll be riding for those currently
fighting, most notably my brother Larry(just recently diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic
cancer), and friends Joy, Sue, and Everett. I’ll be riding for those who were treated and had
success such as Lucy and Tom, and I’ll be riding for Joel, John, Elaine and Regine who fought
with all they had, but ultimately did not survive.
We all know someone who has, did have, or died from cancer. The treatment, although brutal,
can bring hope to those who had none. Every year the groundbreaking research done at Dana
Farber Cancer Center is saving and extending lives, giving patients and families quality time they
might not have had otherwise.
Please support me and Team Pokey’s Hope as we ride PMC 2025 for all those we love, and for
all those you love. Every mile brings us one step closer to a cure, and 100% of every dollar goes
directly to cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Center. Donations can be made online at
https://profile.pmc.org/JS0436 or a check made out to DFCC can be mailed to me at Jeanine
Sylvester, PO Box 264, New Castle, NH 03854. Any amount is greatly appreciated, thank you so
much for taking the time to read my letter and to help us find a cure for cancer, one mile at a
time!
Riding for a cure,
Jeanine Sylvester
