All of us have been touched by cancer one way or another. Last year I lost my sister Martha to abdominal cancer. My mom died of glioblastoma, my father-in-law died of lung cancer, and many friends have died, too early, from cancer.

Our MFS Investment Management cycling team, nearly 100 strong last year, is looking to build on the more than $15 million we have raised since getting involved in 1999.

The PMC has raised $972 million to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since the first ride in 1980. This year it is destined to surpass 41 billion. The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency. Since 2007, the PMC has donated 100% of every rider-raised dollar directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Edward J. Benz MD, former president, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, has said many times:

“When the book about how cancer was cured is written, the story of the Pan Mass Challenge will be chapter #1.”
