In the fall of 2024, my son, Leo, developed an enlarged lymph node on the right side of his neck. Initial tests showed no cause for concern, but despite multiple rounds of antibiotics, the lymph node continued to grow rapidly over the following months. In mid-December, Leo was admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). Since then, he has been under the care of the incredible oncology team at Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic.
During our frequent visits to the Jimmy Fund Clinic, Leo often notices the photos showcasing the Pan-Mass Challenge and curiously asks about the riders. This year, he was honored to be chosen as a Pedal Partner—a program that pairs pediatric patients at the Jimmy Fund with riders and teams who ride in their honor. Leo will be a Pedal Partner for Team Forza-G in this year’s Pan-Mass Challenge.
Forza-G is a dedicated charity cycling team committed to raising funds for cancer care and research. This year, I will be riding with Team Forza-G to support Leo and the incredible work being done at Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic.
Leo’s bravery and strength throughout his treatment have been truly inspiring, as has the resilience of the many other children we have met at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. They all deserve the chance to overcome cancer.
