Why I Ride ...
The PMC holds such a special place in my heart. After my grandfather passed away from prostate cancer in 2001 members of my family began riding in the PMC. I rode for the first time at age 18. At 35 years old now, I can still recall the image and feeling of pulling into the lunch stop of that first ride. People lined the way into the rest stop with signs, pictures, noise makers, and just an unbeilevable outpouring of support and gratitude. Those pictures of kids, parents, spouses- just a reminder that, yes riding our bikes miles and miles in the middle of August is hard, but it's a heck of a lot easier than fighting cancer, or losing someone we love to cancer.
Cancer has unfortunatley touched everyone's life in one way or another and the PMC is a way to get people together to support and fight together. This sense of community in showing up for the same cause is just so powerful.
I always knew I would get back to riding the PMC, and I am excited I get to do so this year alongside my husband and sister. Here's to ONE BILLION!
