Dear friends,
As many of you know, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is ranked as the top cancer center in all of New England. People come from all over the world to seek out the expert clinical care and clinical research trials that are offered at DFCI. It's a pretty special place...which is why I've worked in clinical research at DFCI for the past 11 1/2 years.
A lot is riding on this
Once again, I've committed to raising money for cancer research by riding in the 2016 PMC. On the first weekend in August, I will join 6,200 cyclists in the PMC ride, an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for research and care at DFCI. This year will be my 8th PMC. The ride will cover approximately 192 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown.
I hope I can count on your support
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, $500 million since 1980 and $45 million last year alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.
I've made a personal commitment to ride and raise $4,500. So I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal. Unfortunately, I'm sure someone you know is fighting cancer. This year brought more news of friends who have been affected by cancer. We are riding for each and every one of them...and for all of you who support them.
To help in our fundraising efforts, Mark and I are once again raffling off a pair of Red Sox tickets for a LATE SEASON game against the Yankees. The game is on Friday, September 16th at 7:10 PM. The seats are located in Section 9, Row 1, Seats 3 and 4. We're raffling off one chance for $25 or six chances for $100. Every $25 above $100 is worth two chances. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, August 3rd...so don't miss out!
Every donation brings us closer by the mile, and every dollar counts! If you aren't in a position to give this year, your words of support and encouragement are always welcome.
I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your continued support,
Julie
