In 1991 my sister asked that I pick her up in Provincetown at the end of the PMC. I was not familiar with the ride and not a cyclist but I was inspired and told her I'd ride the following year. Deb held me to that promise and I have now ridden the PMC 16 times.

At the time of my first ride Deb was a cancer survivor having battled Hodgkin's disease when we were in high school. Our inspiration in the early years riding was Deb's successful treatment of her cancer at Dana Farber in the late 70's. Over the years our inspiration would hit closer to home when our mother would be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and would die from the disease in 1997. In 1998 Deb would be hit with the news that she now had breast cancer. And then in 2010 my sister Cheryl would be diagnosed with Lung Cancer and subsequently passed less than a year later. 

Deb being my orginal inspiration continued to inspire others with her long battle with cancer. She was instrumental in getting her friends Judy and Terry O'Reilly involved in the PMC which led to the Boston Bruin's Foundation starting a PMC team. Their team jersey's bare her initials on one of the sleeves. Unfortunatly Deb lost her battle with Breast Cancer in 2017. I took a 10 hiatus from the PMC but returned in 2018 along with my brother Dave to ride with the Boston Bruins foundation and will ride again this August.
