My story is similar to so many of you – cancer has taken or altered the lives of too many family members and friends. The disease is devastating, it doesn’t discriminate, and there’s very little you can do to help. It’s the second leading cause of death in the US, second only to heart disease.
Thanks to organizations like PMC scientists, doctors, and healthcare professionals continue to develop new forms of treatment with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. As a result of their commitment, the number of people winning their battle against cancer grows every day. Money is what researchers need to continue the fight. That's why we ride!
The cause and the PMC experience are why we keep coming back. There are several different routes you can choose to ride. I ride the main event - two days and 200 miles from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA. When you combine the physical challenge, something I enjoy, with the event organization, the volunteers, and the coming together of so many people for a common cause it’s a pretty unique expereince. This is year five for me, still a rookie by most comparisons. The 4-5 people I ride with have ridden more than twenty PMCs!
Thanks to all of you who have donated in the past and ask that you continue again this year. Last year we raised $66m for the Jimmy Fund ($900m over the life of PMC). Our goal is to raise even more this year. Please be as generous as you can. An extra twenty-five or fifty dollars goes a long way!
If you are a business owner or part of the leadership team of a company, please consider a significant donation to the PMC as part of your philanthropic efforts. For anyone who works for a company that matches your donation, please apply for the match.
100% of rider-raised money goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
Thank you.
