Why I Ride ...
This will be my 11th PMC ride. Last year, due to your tremendous support, I exceeded my goal and raised about $12,900. My fundraising goal this year is $11,000, including my personal match of the first $1,500 donated. Because the PMC has corporate sponsors, 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in support of cancer research.
Despite all of the research, the new discoveries and new treatments many people still get cancer every year. It is a stark reminder that our job is not done. The thought that my efforts combined with your support can make even a small difference helps make sense of it all. So I am riding this year in honor of my late wife Pamela, my late friend Dick Bail, my PMC teammate Mark, two friends Erwin and Michael who were recently diagnosed with cancer, and the many friends and loved ones that have been touched by cancer.
It is astounding that almost everyone I know has been impacted in some way by cancer. Many are actively battling it or find themselves in a caregiver role. Two of my best friends died in their forties and there are too many memorial services on my calendar. Together we can help find a cure.
Please support my ride and cancer research if you can. Wish me good luck and good weather.
