Why I Ride ...
Once again, we are raising funds for Cancer research by riding in the PMC. For the first 12 years, Fred and I rode as part of Team Jean, a team founded in honor of Jean Seiden, a wonderful local leader, mother and friend who eventually lost her battle with breast cancer. While we continue to be inspired by Jean, for the past 6 years, we have joined our son Alex on Team Eric Chase. Still raising funds for cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, but focused on a different goal.
Eric Chase was a close high school friend of Alex's who had a zest for life and people. Unfortunately, Eric a senior at the University of Vermont, died in 2012 after a battle with Leukemia. Team Eric is a group of largely Eric's high school friends who have come together with Eric's father, Don Chase, to raise funds to help support the specific work of Eric's doctors, Dr. Richard Stone and Dr. Vincent Ho. Dr Ho's current work is focused on a cancer vaccine to be used in conjunction with a stem cell transplant to treat acute Leukemia. This exciting research is currently in a promising Phase II clinical trial and the team has met with several patients involved in the trial. While this research is focused on Leukemia, it will help us all by furthering our understanding of the Biology of Cancer. We are excited to join this group working to raise funds in Eric's honor for this compelling study.
Our goal this year is together to raise $20,000 to support cancer research, it is a big goal, but one with your help we can reach
Thanks for your support. Jennifer
