Why I Ride ... for Mom, Dad, Les, Dede because every dollar makes a difference.
Twenty four ish years ago I rode my first PMC with my now-husband Tom (a 31! year rider we think) in memory of his brother-in-law and best friend, Kevin. I did not even know Kevin's children and grandchildren then, and now they are dear dear family. Twelve years ago, I rode for Tim. A colleague who was a friend and bravely fought cancer for the year leading into the PMC. He passed away the Saturday after. Dana Farber extended his battle and I am proud to be a part of that! Eight years ago we lost my Dad to complications arising from esophageal cancer. Seven years ago we lost his mom to stomach cancer. While grandma lived a full life of nearly 100 years, my Father was robbed of the decade that was to be grandchildren's' graduations, weddings and births of their own families. So every PMC since my 59th birthday when my Dad passed is in his memory. How far closer these 24 years have brought me to this mission and commitment to raise funds that go 100% directly to the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
