I’m happy to share that I’ll be riding the 25 mile PMC route again this year to raise funds for cancer care and research at Dana Faber Cancer Institute. As most of you know I’ve been a patient at DFCI since 2004, being treated for Thrombocytosis and more recently Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
This past year I was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive skin cancer. Again, DFCI was there for me, and within days of diagnosis a team of four specialists in MCC met with me to review the specifics of my condition along with their treatment and follow up protocol. Following surgery and radiation therapy, my first quarterly PET scan and blood tests were negative and I’ve been able to resume my activities and as my DFCI doctors have told me “keep living your life”.
I continue to be extremely grateful for the outstanding care I’ve received at DFCI and would like to do what I can to raise funds so those with cancer can receive the care they need to continue living their lives. I am also riding in memory of my father and father-in-law, two great guys and role models, Rick Schantz, an extended family member and friend, as well as for my relatives and friends who are battling cancer.
This year I’ll be riding with Deb, Ivy ,Craig, and Sammy and cheered on by all our children and grandchildren.
I’m also grateful for the love and support I continue to receive from all of you and truly appreciate any and all donations. To donate online, you can access my PMC page where funds will go directly to CLL research or you can also mail a check made out to PMC and mail it to me at 900 Greendale Ave. Unit 18, Needham MA 02492.
Thanks so much for all your support.
