Why I Ride ...
I am thrilled to be returning for my fifth year cycling with the CRUS11TOUR in the PMC, and my third year cycling the full route from Sturbridge to Provincetown. This is a banner year as the PMC will exceed $1 Billion dollars of total fundraising since it's inception. I have put in many hard training miles this year already, and I can't wait to get out on the road to Provincetown!
I began riding the PMC in support of my friend Dave Hovey who lost his son Davey to brain cancer in his mid 20s. CRUS11TOUR is the name Davey gave to his battle with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer, and his strong will to crush his cancer. Davey's legacy continues as his family and friends rally together on the CRUS11TOUR to continue the fight, raising vital funds for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Although glioblastoma is a rare form of cancer, in my community it has not felt so uncommon. During these past five years, sadly several colleagues in my medical community have also been taken unfairly by this unrelenting cancer. I ride in the PMC to continue to support my friends and my medical community.
The CRUS11TOUR is a truly remarkable group of people, and there is no let up in this team. Along with over 110 other CRUS11TOUR cyclists, we are positioned for a successful 2024 fundraising campaign! A reminder that 100% of the funds raised go directly to glioblastoma brain cancer research which is incredible. I believe that our collective effort in raising awareness of glioblastoma and raising funds for research will make a difference. Please consider supporting our team so that we can crush this disease together!
