PMC 2024
Dear Friends:
I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. For the 10th year I am riding in the Pan Mass Challenge bike ride to support Dana Farber’s mission to cure cancer.
Please consider supporting me for our ride on PMC weekend (August 3-4). I would like to thank all who have donated so far, very much appreciated.
Why donate?
100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly to finding a cure.
Dana Farber depends on the PMC's support, which raises over 50% of DF’s charitable donations.
All donations will fund two exciting novel investigational treatments for hard to treat pediatric cancers—PGLA (brain tumors), led by Dr. Mimi Bandopadhayay, and T-ALL (a rarer form of childhood leukemia), led by Dr. Kimberley Stegmaier:
Both these exciting projects depend on Team Crank’s fund-raising to be launched, and they pose the potential for more effective treatments without the long-lasting and severely debilitating impact of current treatments. We have a great team of riders and last year, along with a matching donation, we raised over $1M. We are targeting to get over $1,000,000 again this year and this would put our team over $6M collectively over the past years. In 2023, the PanMass ride as a whole raised $70,000,000.
Our matching donation is from the Warren Alpert Foundation, who will support us again this year. This means every dollar donated will be matched, doubling our contribution.
Our support is “seed” money for novel research and can lead to far more significant funding from other large donors, such as the National Institute of Health.
Donating is easy—click https://profile.pmc.org/JK0276
or you can send a check payable to the Pan Mass Challenge to me at 34 Hummock Way, Hudson, MA 01749. As always, I would be honored to ride in support or memory of your loved ones who have been touched by this disease.
Thank you as always for your support—together we can make the prognosis better for all our loved ones so one day we can say that cancer is just a memory.
Thank you for your consideration and my best,
John
