Why I Ride ...
On August 2nd and 3rd, I will be making my inaugural PMC ride as a member of team Pedals for Pediatrics (P4P). P4P formed in 2004 with a mission to ease the burden of childhood cancer with every mile ridden and every dollar raised. Over twenty years later, P4P has raised almost $7 million dollars to support pediatric cancer research as well as program support and direct financial assistance for patients and families receiving care at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
As someone who has had the privilege of working in pediatric oncology for most of my career, I’ve witnessed the incredible strength and resilience of young patients and their families. I’ve seen children overcome unimaginable challenges, and I’ve seen families come together in ways that inspire me every day. I have also seen the toll that cancer takes on these children and their families —physically, emotionally, and financially. 100 percent of every dollar I raise will go directly to team P4P to help advance important research and proivde support to famlies navigating the world of a childhood cancer diagnosis.
I have always admired the dedication of everyone involved in the PMC and have especially loved cheering on the early morning riders along the Cape Cod Canal in my hometown of Bourne, MA. I feel honored to be joining the rider community this year and look forward to making my own journey over the bridge and all the way to Ptown in support of children with cancer.
Thank you for all of your support!
