Why I Ride ...
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I would not be at the Pan Mass challenge without the inspiration of a dear friend, Diane Legg who has dedicated so much to this cause, her health and her family. I am riding in memory Martin Michaels-my father & hero, Selma Field-my aunt who was bright and accomplished, Shari and Joni-two of my lovely cousins. I am also riding in honor of many strong friends and patients who have lived with cancer. As a physician (OB/GYN) I have had the privilege to care for incredible women. I have diagnosed and treated cancer. It is places like Dana Farber, who does research and care, so people with cancer can live another day, one day at a time. Outside of the office and the hospital I have had the opportunity to donate my time and energy to others in need...Doing Medical missions in Monserrat, Guatemala, and soon in Peru! I have hiked, walked, ran, and rode for others. the Pan Mass with be my biggest challenge of 173 miles in 2 days, but it is a small spin compared to those who live with cancer. In gratitude...Julie
