Just keep peddling!

This year I have earmarked all of my personal fundraising to the Stella Hope Fund. I ride in support of Stella Hope Freedman who started her battle at only 3 months old. I ride so that no other babies will need to start life that way. The Stella Hope Fund is raising 2 million dollars to support a promising clinical trial of a new treatment that is less toxic for childern. I continue to ride in memory of my grandfather, Herb Selenkow, who lost his battle to non-smokers lung cancer almost nine years ago. He lived his life helping others and to honor him, I dedicate my ride to him. I ride in memory of my friend Betty Katz. The memory of her bright smile and constant words of encouragement helps me through the tough hills throughout the ride. I ride for my friends who have battled through cancer treatment. I ride for friends and family supporting their loved ones in their battle with this horrible disease, who continually put their own needs aside. I ride for those with no one to ride for. I ride for those who can’t.

I ride because I can. And because I know how lucky I am. And because I am committed to paying it forward so that others can survive and move on beyond cancer to ride a bike or raise a family or write a book or start a business or do whatever beautiful things their lives call them to do. I ride because I have hope that such a cancer free future is possible.

I could not ride without all of you. Your generous support and donations are the reason why the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leading research and treatment facility. These funds are not restricted and allow Dana-Farber to hire the brightest talent, purchase the best equipment and stay on the leading edge of cancer research.
