On the weekend of August 3rd, I will be riding in my 13th Pan-Mass Challenge. The most important takeaway about the PMC is that 100% of all rider-raised dollars go directly towards cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year the PMC will surpass $1 Billion raised for Dana Farber. My ride and your donations will go towards two areas of research: Glioblastoma & Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma.
This year I am riding in honor of my childhood friend Peter Wilk who was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma in February 2023. Pete coached Georgetown baseball for 20 years before transitioning to lead the Futures League’s Vermont Lake Monsters five years ago where he led the team to a league championship. Pete courageously fought the cancer for 15 months before passing away this past April. He leaves behind his wife and two beautiful daughters and the hundreds of players he made a positive and lasting impression on through his love of baseball.
I ride with the +100 rider CRUS11Tour team raising money in honor of Davey Hovey. Davey passed away in 2017 but his CRUS11Tour legacy rolls on. The money raised by the team goes towards brain cancer research that is being conducted by Davey’s doctor, Dr. David Reardon at DFCI.
Lastly, I am riding to increase research funding for Sezary Disease, a rare type of Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma that my wife Kimberly was diagnosed with in 2017. She continues to receive incredible
treatment at Dana-Farber. Sezary Disease is treatable, but not yet curable. A portion of my dollars raised will go towards furthering the research and discovering the cure.
The PMC is a way for me to play a small part in making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer, a disease that touches us all in some way. I hope you will support me in this endeavor as we invest in a future that is free of cancer.
