Thank you for visiting my page.
This year, I am honored to participate as a rider in the 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). The PMC is known for raising more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the U.S. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised nearly $1 billion for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In 2024, the PMC set a goal of raising $75 million. Every dollar raised by riders goes directly to Dana-Farber, funding critical cancer research and treatment.
I will be part of the reimagined event, cycling 72 miles from Stony Brook to Montauk, NY on August 4th. The main event in Massachusetts takes place the same weekend, with riders participating in events covering up to 211 miles over two days.
Cancer has touched too many lives, including those of my own family and friends. Each time we learn of someone battling this horrific disease, the feeling of helplessness is overwhelming. We often ask, How can I help? For me, this ride helps to answer part of that question.
Most of you know my brother has bravely fought kidney cancer, and watching his struggle has been incredibly difficult, yet also deeply inspiring. This ride is a way for me to channel my feelings of helplessness into action and support. I am aiming to raise a couple of thousand dollars for cancer research and support those who depend on it. This is how I can honor my brother, my mom, my grandparents, and many other family members, as well as countless friends who have faced cancer.
I have a flag that represents the names of family members, friends, and others I know who have battled cancer. Each name is written in the ribbon color of the cancer they have fought/continue to fight (lavender represents all cancers). The flag will be attached to my bike for my ride, partly for my own motivation but mainly to honor those who have fought the fight. If you or a loved one has been affected by cancer, please share their name with me so I can include them on my flag and ride in their honor (no, you do not have to donate for me to include their name).
Thank you again for your consideration and support.
Cheers,
Jason
