Like yours, our lives have been touched by many family and friends who have suffered from cancer; many of those are no longer with us. A lucky few have survived thanks to the remarkable advances in cancer treatment and exemplary care from institutions like the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
Our goal is to raise $20,000. Donations to our PMC ride will help cancer patients by supporting life-saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber. We are riding in support of our dear friends Lucy Snyder, Sue Johnson and Sibylle Huegle.
The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. The organization was founded in 1980. Because of the generosity of folks like you, it will have raised over $1 billion for cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber through its Jimmy Fund by the end of this year's ride. The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency and donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause.
Dana-Farber has long been committed to easing the financial stress of cancer for patients and their families. Underscoring this commitment, the Division of Patient and Family Programs and Services provides needs-based assistance to more than 1,400 eligible families throughout the year. This assistance often acts as a bridge between immediate need and longer-term solutions. Your contribution to our ride will go to a fund we have established for needs-based assistance.
Please make a difference and support our PMC ride. It would mean a great deal to us and even more to those affected by cancer.
