PMC 2024

This year marks my sixteenth consecutive Pan-Mass Challenge, my first as CEO. 2024 is also special in that the PMC has just crossed $1 Billion (yes, that’s a “B”) raised for research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since founder Billy Starr and a few dozen friends first saddled up and rode across Massachusetts in 1980.

Supporting my PMC ride helps thousands of adults and kids who are currently receiving Dana-Farber's world-class, compassionate care. On August 3 & 4, more than 1,000 cancer survivors like these will be riding alongside me - or supporting us as volunteers - and they are the “Living Proof” of the progress we’re making against cancer.

Your PMC gift also fuels the research for tomorrow’s cures: there are more than 1,100 clinical trials are under way at Dana-Farber right now. Did you realize that Dana-Farber investigators played a foundational role in more than half (51%) of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA in the last five years, drugs that are now used to treat patients around the world? It’s no exaggeration when Dana-Farber says, “What we do here changes lives everywhere.”

As we get ready for our biggest weekend of the year - August 3 & 4 - our small but mighty staff of 14 is focused on delivering an outstanding experience for 6,500 riders who, on average, will raise over $10,000... each! And for the 18th year in a row, the PMC will pass through 100% of every rider-raised dollar to Dana-Farber.
