This August, I am participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a bike-a-thon dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I will be riding with Team Samantha, named in honor of Samantha Janower, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of three and is now a middle school teacher.

Many people I love have faced cancer. One close friend received her oligodendroglioma diagnosis three years ago; remarkably, she’s now in law school and just completed her latest round of chemotherapy.
