Last year was my first experience riding the PMC and although I wanted to do the 2 day event, it was sold put prior to my commitment. I really wanted to come back this year and complete the 2 day ride and continue to support the Ryan Harvey Fund at Dana Farber cancer Institute. Ryan is my friend Erin's nephew who lost a 3 year battle with a deadly form of pediatric brain cancer called DIPG. Since DIPG affects a relatively small number of children each year there very little traditional research money devoted to finding a cure. Their family has started a named fund at Dana Farber in Ryan's name. Money raised by the foundation goes directly to support research by Ryan's doctor, Dr. Mark Kiernan. Dr. Kiernan is one of the leading authorities on pediatric brain tumors, and is leading ground breaking research at Dana Farber. Please help me to raise these much needed funds to continue his research.
Why am I riding 150 miles on August 6th and 7th? Much of why I am doing this and why I chose to help make the PMC a success is because of my past involvement with Cancer treatment and a little bit has to do with my inability to say “no”. Having worked for 10 years in a pediatric Oncology unit in Boston has definitely made an impact on me. To see the pain of parents watching their child die of cancer is not something you take lightly. I have felt their pain and every year I try to do something that can make a difference in Cancer care and research. Sometimes it might be organizing a golf tournament or personally getting involved in an event. Thia year I have chosen the PMC to challenge myself in this ride and raise money for cancer research and care. Itrying to raise $5,000 and I am hoping that you will be able to help me do this.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
