Dearest friends,

This summer, I will return home from Brussels to ride from Nova Scotia to Boston, Massachusetts for my 34th consecutive Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). The PMC is a big part of who I am. I have raised over $500,000 and have made some of my closest friends and best memories while biking to fight cancer. This year, my goal is to raise $34,000 for my 34th year!

The PMC bike-a-thon raises more money than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. It generates 60% of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue and is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. Since 1980, the PMC has raised over $972 million for cancer research, proving bikes fight cancer!

I distinctly remember my first PMC. I was excited to bike, fundraise and explore new places with new people. I had no idea that this event would have such a tremendous impact on my life and the many people and organizations that it supports.

Every year the mission of the PMC becomes more meaningful to me. I ride for my brother and best friend, Ronnie Selling, who lost his life to pancreatic cancer. I ride for my best friend Erica Kaitz, who I met through the PMC, who lost her life to the rare form of cancer Leiomyosarcoma (LMS).

The ride continues to grow in meaning and becomes more emotional to me as I think about all of the people, I know who are impacted by cancer. I have also witnessed advances in treatment that have helped save friends and family from cancer, which makes me reflect on the efforts of the PMC.

Together, we can help save lives and further advance treatment so that we can give our friends and family more time with their loved ones.

My personal goal for 2024 is $34,000 and the PMC’s goal is $70 million to reach over $1 billion in total raised since inception. Once again, I ask you, my dear friends and extended family, to help wipe out cancer.
