On August 3, 2025, I will be riding 77 miles in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a bike-a-thon that raises money for lifesaving cancer research, treatment, and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals.
As many of you know, my husband James was diagnosed in February 2024 with Oligodendroglioma, a rare form of brain cancer. After a successful craniotomy, James emerged from surgery with SMA syndrome, a neurological condition that can occur after brain surgery and causes temporary paralysis. In the weeks that followed, James faced the difficult process of re-learning how to use the left side of his body, including learning to walk again. While his primary care team is based in New York, we have deeply benefitted from the remarkable research and expertise of Dana-Farber's neuro-oncology team, whose insights have meaningfully guided us through this journey. I’m incredibly grateful and proud to be riding in the PMC alongside James, who’s taking on the full two-day route from Wellesley to Provincetown!
Sadly, our story is not unique. Far too many families have faced the devastating reality of a cancer diagnosis. It's a disease that touches all of us - directly or indirectly - and will continue to do so until we find a cure. That's why I've decided to ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge. The money raised will support the brilliant scientists working tirelessly to find cures, and to enhance the patient experience, which is just as vital. Every dollar raised goes directly to Dana-Farber, meaning that your donation has a real impact!
Please consider supporting my ride. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those battling cancer. Thank you!
