On August 12th 1991, my life changed. It started at our son Nick's 2-year checkup, when the doctor noticed that something was wrong, to being admitted to the Dana-Farber Cancer floor at Boston Children's Hospital just one day later. Nick appeared to be just as healthy as his twin sister, but we had to come to terms that he may never see his third birthday. I felt scared, helpless, and frantic to find ways to help my son, and all the other children who were also being treated on that floor. One does not really know how much you love your children until you imagine life without them.
We were fortunate because a donor gave money to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute years before and research teams found a way to cure the cancer in some of the children that were afflicted with the type of cancer my son had. Thank you for considering being that donor that will help save another father's son at some point in the future.
