I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading the charge to beat cancer! Team MG stands firm in our commitment to eradicate cancer and we are excited to have many teammates back together for PMC weekend this year. I will be riding the 162 mile, 2 day ride this year, starting in Wellesley and finishing in Provincetown, MA.
This year is my 10th year as a PMC rider! I am committed to PMC to honor many loved ones and friends who have courageously fought, survived, and whom we have sadly lost to cancer. From a very young age, I have witnessed such strength in those who have battled this disease, and an incredible amount of resilience in those who have beaten it. I ride so someday everyone will WIN!
I am a proud a member and Co-Captain of TEAM MG, which was established in honor of and inspired by my aunt Margie (affectionately called 'MG'). Margie lost her courageous battle with esophageal cancer in September 2012. She was an inspiration, and one of the wittiest, and strongest willed women. We are proud to carry on her legacy in this meaningful way, and make an impact for current and future patients.
Our goal, as TEAM MG is to raise support for the incredible team of physician-scientists at the Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Over time, some of us have had cancer creep close to home once again, so we also support the doctors that are studying cancers that have affected our loved ones. All of the funds we raise directly support research that will ultimately
lead to more effective treatments and better outcomes for patients.
Over this past year, many more healthy loved ones and friends were faced with a cancer diagnosis.
I dedicate my ride to each of them, and:
Uncle Moe, friend Vann, friend Pat, young Ellie, and friends John and Paula - who lost their battles at such young ages. Aunt Margie, Uncle Bob, John Riley, Sara Schottenstein, John Nichols, Maureen Twomey, and Bart Catalane...
I also ride in honor of my loved ones and friends who now thrive as survivors!
