PMC 2025 is August 2nd-3rd!
THANK YOU to the 81+ donors who gave generously to my Pan Mass Challenge ride in 2024! With your help, I raised $13,500 for the PMC and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute!!! My FLAMES Team (Fast Legs And Minds End Suffering) raised a total of $1,411,822.83 and the total PMC gift to Dana-Farber was $75 million! This year's gift from the PMC put their lifetime donations (since 1980) to Dana Farber past the $1 BILLION mark! THANK YOU!!!
The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other (single-event) athletic fundraiser in the country! 100% of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund Clinic. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and provided 66% of the Jimmy Fund Clinic’s annual revenue for 2024. Dana-Farber is a global leader in drug discovery, playing a critical role in the development of MORE THAN HALF of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA in the past 5 years!
In January, I registered for my 8th PMC ride - and this year, I'm going BIG! I registered for the 2-day "STURBRIDGE to P-Town" route! I turned 50 this year, so everything I'm doing this year will be BIG! The route is 110 miles the first day, and the elevation, well, the elevation is famous enough that it's kept me away for 7 years, LOL! Though there are 2 start locations, the routes merge at the lunch stop, and we finish together at Mass Maritime Academy on Day 1.
I love being part of the FLAMES, and I choose each year, along with my teammates, to designate all my donations to the DFCI Adult Oncology / Lymphoma group, which focuses on research and treatment of people with blood cancers. The research in these areas form a critical link to discovery of cures for all cancers in children and adults. Each Spring we look forward to hearing from our FLAMES Team docs (who also ride and raise money with us!) at a weeknight event in May at Dana-Farber, and they present their results from the past year as well as their goals for research this year.
Would you partner with me to support this important research? With your help, we can fund more research to CURE MORE CANCERS! There are many ways to give.
With great love and gratitude,
Heather Lewis
The memory and legacy of my friends, Bridget Slotemaker and Michele Washburn, who each died of cancer as young mothers pushed me to ride in my first PMC in 2018. These were strong and funny women who are missed by so many. My young friend, and brave warrior, Jonah Goodall, continues to teach me that if he can survive brain surgery and radiation, and live fully with many expected and unexpected ongoing medical issues, I can ride to raise money for research to find cures for so many families who have kids with cancer! We need cures for more cancers!! Thank you for partnering with the PMC!
