PMC 2024 is August 3-4th
THANK YOU to the 87+ donors who gave generously to my Pan Mass Challenge ride in 2023! With your help, I raised $14,000 for the PMC and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute!!! My FLAMES Team (Fast Legs And Minds End Suffering) raised a total of $1,307,995 (We added 36+ new riders in 2023!) and the total PMC gift to Dana-Farber was $72 million!!! THANK YOU!!!
The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other (single-event) athletic fundraiser in the country! 100% of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund Clinic. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and provides 62% of the Jimmy Fund Clinic’s annual revenue. Dana-Farber is a global leader in drug discovery, playing a critical role in the development of MORE THAN HALF of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA in the past 5 years!
Since the first ride in 1980, The PMC has raised $972 MILLION for DFCI, positioning us to help them cross the monumental $1 BILLION in cumulative fundraising in 2024. In January, I registered for my 7th PMC ride on the 2-day Wellesley to P-Town route again this year. We are all EXTRA Pumped to be part of the “One In A BILLION” campaign!
You might recall that I also have a NEW BIKE for 2024. She’s really pretty, and has electronic shifting - which means I cannot break a shifting cable EVER AGAIN! New England makes us wait and work for nice dry Spring temps, but I’ve gotten out a few times already.
My FLAMES Teammates are excited to welcome our new Pedal Partner, Zoey, who will be eight years old on June 8th. She has been battling T-ALL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia for the past two years. and has been through an aggressive treatment protocol at the Jimmy Fund Clinic that she will complete on May 15th! She has proclaimed that when she is done with treatment, she is going to have a BIG pool party in her backyard with all her friends and family to celebrate. Her 3 yr old sister Addison only knows Zoey as her sister who always gets medicine. Our past pedal partners, Thayer, Cam, Zach, and Ady are all doing well, and have graduated from the Pedal Partner Program. They will always be FLAMES to us!
Our FLAMES Teammates each choose to designate all donations to the DFCI Adult Oncology / Lymphoma group, which focuses on research and treatment of people with blood cancers. The research in these areas form a critical link to discovery of cures for all cancers in children and adults. Each Spring we look forward to hearing from our FLAMES Team docs (who also ride and raise money with us!) at a weeknight event in May at Dana-Farber.
Would you partner with me to support this important research? With your help, we can fund more research to CURE MORE CANCERS! There are many ways to give.
With great love and gratitude,
Heather Lewis
The memory and legacy of my friends, Bridget Slotemaker and Michele Washburn, who each died of cancer as young mothers pushed me to ride in my first PMC in 2018. These were strong and funny women who are missed by so many. My young friend, and brave warrior, Jonah Goodall, continues to teach me that if he can survive brain surgery and radiation, and live fully with many expected and unexpected ongoing medical issues, I can ride to raise money for research to find cures for so many families who have kids with cancer! We need cures for more cancers!! Thank you for partnering with the PMC!
