Team Pauline Greene
Why We Ride: Our team, Helen Brady, Kerry and Sean Corbett, Ignacio Inglessis, Patrick Joyce, Corey and Mary Ledin, Paula LaGambina, and Susan Ragon, are participating in the Pan Mass Challenge in memory of Pauline Greene of Braintree, MA. Pauline was diagnosed at age 44 with inoperable Pancreatic Cancer, and passed away at the age of 46 on December 3, 2010. We asked Pauline's cousin Liz to share's some thoughts about Pauline:
****
Dear Friends,
How do I begin to share a story about the remarkable life of Pauline Greene, a devoted daughter and loving sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend? She genuinely touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with in a truly special way. Pauline was blessed with a gift. Whether you were alone or part of a larger group, you always felt that you were the only one....a feeling of selfless love.
In September of 2009, my cousin Pauline was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Pauline handled this devasting news with dignity and grace. She accepted it like she did all other challenges in her life with courage and determination. Her inner strength and amazing positive attitude left me with an overwhelming feeling of admiration and respect for my beautifully spirited cousin. Unfortunately, in December, Pauline lost her nearly 18 month battle with cancer. She was only 46 years old. Although her life was shortened by this disease, she lived her life well and to its fullest. She was truly the most courageous woman I have ever known.
Last summer, in honor of my cousin, a special group assembled to ride in the Pan Mass Challenge. This year, the same group has joined together again to ride in loving memory of Pauline and her amazing life. They have named their group, Team Pauline. Although you may not have known my cousin, cancer unfortunatley touches the lives of most of us. You may have a parent, sibling, friend, or neighbor that has been affected. It is my great hope to keep Pauline's memory and those of others alive by raising money through the PMC which aides in funding vital research.
In closing, our family is heartbroken by the loss of Pauline, but we continue to find comfort in the love and prayers from our family and friends.
Thanks in advance for your gracious support.
