Hi family, friends, and colleagues,
As many of you know, I’ve spent much of this year immersed in triathlon training, with my sights set on completing a full Ironman in Barcelona this October. Alongside the physical challenge, I’ve been driven to align my efforts with a cause that’s long been personal to me: the fight against cancer. In previous years, I supported this mission by swimming in open water events through Swim Across America. As I did last year, I’m again continuing that commitment on two wheels.
In August, I’ll be riding alongside my mom, uncle, and cousins in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a two-day, nearly 200-mile bike ride across Massachusetts that raises critical funds for The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These organizations supported my cousin during his battle with childhood cancer. Thanks to the care he received at Dana-Farber, he made a full recovery—and this year, like last, I’ll be riding alongside him. His father, my uncle Hal, has completed this ride for more than 25 consecutive years, helping to ensure more children get the same chance. You can read about their story here.
While we’re incredibly grateful for my cousin’s outcome, our family also knows the pain of loss—our grandfather’s passing to cancer is a lasting reminder of how much work remains. That’s why I’ve once again committed to raising $6,000 for cancer research. Every dollar raised goes directly to Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund—100%.
This year, your impact can go even further: my employer, Google, is matching donations. That means any contribution made through me can be doubled. If you’d like to support, you can Venmo me directly (@GraysonCullen), and I’ll submit the match through my company.
Whether it’s $20 or $200, your support means the world to me—not just as an athlete training for something big, but a human committed to improving care and riding for a world without cancer.
Gratefully,
Gray
