Together, we can beat cancer
Hi Everyone,
I'm inviting you to join me in helping researchers find a cure for cancer. The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To date, PMC has raised over half a billion dollars for research which has lead to numerous breakthroughs and saved countless lives. We can start to envision a day when cancer is cured, but right now, there's so much more to be done.
This horrible disease has impacted us all. Soon after we moved to Boston in 2014, my wife Randi received the news that everyone dreads. One of my clearest recollections from that period was the incredible support and comfort provided by the staff at Dana Farber on top of the state-of-the-art medical care. Today, Randi's healthier than ever and we'll always be grateful to team at Dana Farber and the research that led to her amazing outcome.
For my first PMC, I am joining Team Kermit which rides in honor of Jared Branfman, a young man whose life was cut short by spinal and brain cancer when he was just 23 years old. The money we raise goes to the Jimmy Fund to support research and treatments in the fight against this disease. Our Pedal Partner is a young man named Declan Rourke who has undergone many rounds of surgery and other treatment for a rare spine and brain cancer that is almost always fatal. Today Declan is cancer free. Advances in the treatment of these rare cancers often lead to breakthroughs in other cancers, so it's likely that Team Kermit has already planted to seeds of future cures in multiple different cancers
Please join me in supporting this worthy cause. I registered for the 2-day Sturbridge to Provincetown route which winds 192 miles through Massachussets. Each donation you make will help me get closer to my goal of raising $5,000 for cancer research. More important, it will help all of us realize the dream of curing cancer.
Thanks,
Glenn
