Dear Friends,
This year - again - as we feel grateful for these experiences in life that are taken from so many - we ride the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise funds to cure cancer, and to sustain and improve the lives of those with cancer.
Team Pinsky has remained dedicated to honoring Aaron Pinsky's memory in many ways throughout the years. Riding the Pan-Mass Challenge has been one of the most healing and meaningful ways we have tried. I will ride again this year, with renewed strength of purpose because with each year that goes by, we see the positive impacts of the funding the PMC provides to Dana-Farber. It's inspiring to see the far reaching essential research helping people to live and love longer, and with higher qualities of life.
It's with sadness that we carry with us, each year, the memory of more friends and relatives who benefitted from the care and research in the Cancer commnunity, but who did not survive. That means there's still more funding needed, and more work to do. I will ride each year with Pinsky, my dear Uncle Jack, and my friend Peter Nichol, at the top of my in memory ribbon.
I participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge because I still believe that love, determination and spirit never die. The ever devastating fact that brain cancer took Pinsky's life in February, 2010 is the heartbroken and powerful story that brought our team to the event. Pinsky and I loved each other with more strength than we could have imagined, and we wished for a lifetime together. Through every hardship during his illness he showed me what it is to be strong. I will ride again this year, with that strength, in honor of our journey together.
I humbly ask for contributions to this ride, from you all, year after year, with the hope that some day, other couples, friends and families will not have to experience our journey through pain and loss.
The Pan-Mass Challenge raises money that is given directly to Dana-Farber, the incredible institute where Pinsky received his care. We know from our experience that Dana-Farber is dedicated to the very best personal care and is moving as quickly as possible towards efficiently and effectively treating and curing cancer. Please donate what ever you can to this ride. Your dollars will go far; practically, to help patients, and emotionally, in support of our collective strength against the suffering cancer imposes on our lives.
Thank you, sincerely, for your generous support.
