I am honored to share that I am joining my friends on ‘Team Next Gen’ to complete the Pan Mass Challenge, a two-day-192 mile-bike ride across the state of Massachusetts. Team Next Gen was coined by our ‘Director Sportif' as the abbreviation of Team Next Generation. After watching our parents and their confidants complete this ride, my echelon of friends and I have decided to grab hold of the baton as the next generation of participants. We’ve pumped our tires, buckled in our cleats, and we’re ready to give a damn go at out-cycling our parental predecessors in the 2024 PMC.
The Pan Mass Challenge is the largest athletic fundraising event in the world and has raised $972 million to support cancer research at the Dana Farber Institute in Boston. 100% of the proceeds donated go directly to Cancer research.
Cancer has touched the lives of too many. I am riding to honor 4 people, who lost their battle to cancer, and to the families and friends that grieve their losses.
I am riding because in 2007, I lost my Grandmother, Jean Rose Sullivan to her battle with Leukemia.
I am riding because in 2020, I lost Danny Mullins, a dear friend and mentor, to melanoma.
I am riding because in 2009, my Grandfather, lost his brother, Andrew “Jack” Paton to lung cancer.
Over the next 4 months, I hope to share each of their stories with the purpose of celebrating their lives; and on the weekend of the event, I’ve been granted the privilege of wearing their names through the ride.
Whether inspired by their stories, commemorating your own loved ones, or feeling moved by the cause, I’d greatly appreciate your consideration of donating and sponsoring my ride. My goal is to raise $10,000 by August 2024.
