I'm a proud to join Team Year Up for my first PMC ride! I'll be jumping right in for the full two-day route from Wellesley to Provincetown this August and am excited to participate during a milestone year where the PMC expects to reach a total of $1 billion donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Why do I ride? Because cancer impacts everyone.
Within my own family, we have those currently fighting battles with cancer, we have survivors and caregivers, we have lost those that we love, and we have loved ones who have benefited directly from care and research done at Dana Farber. And I know my family is not alone - I don't think I know a single person who hasn't been impacted by cancer in some way. When I think of all of them, I know I can fight through any fatigue and discomfort to finish the day 1 ride, wake up at 4am the next day, and do it again.
Each year, 100% of rider-raised revenue for the PMC goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure for cancer. The search for a cure has made remarkable progress, in part due to donations raised in the PMC, but the fight is far from over. I ride to continue to support the groundbreaking research that gets us closer to a cure every day.
After hitting my initial goals of $6,000 and then $10,000, I have increased my goal to $15,000. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far!
