My father and best friend passed away from non-smokers lung cancer 10 years ago. To honor my father and to take action and fight cancer, I ride in the Pan Mass Challenge. This will be my 7th year of riding and what started as a way to cope with the loss of my father has turned into so much more. When I'm on the road banging out the miles in prepartion for the Pan Mass, the solitude allows me to think about all those in my life I have lost to cancer. The battles they waged and are currently fighting inspire me and the long rides are a good outlet to vent my rage. Cancer does not discriminate and it is relentless. It is a dreadful disease but we are making progress everyday. With your support, events like the Pan Mass Challenge, and the brilliant doctors who search for a cure I am hopeful that cancer will one day be a treatable disease.
