After a few years of virtual rides, I am shipping up to Boston for another Pan Mass Challenge in person. This will be my tenth year riding and I am so excited to experience the unmatched energy of PMC weekend in Massachusetts. This year is extra special as my brother and his wife will be riding their first PMC. We are welcoming them to our PMC Mahan Clan with open arms and happy hearts! Our family is so proud to be part of the PMC's billion dollar era.
The PMC has become one of the biggest and most important parts of my life over the years because, unfortunately, it's hard to find someone that hasn't been touched by cancer and I believe whole heartedly in the mission and the proven results of this event.
I am riding in loving memory of my best friend, Samantha Bourque, who lost her battle with clear cell sarcoma in 2012 at the age of 21. Samantha has inspired me in so many ways. She was such an AMAZING person that had a genuine passion for life. Over a decade later, I still see signs of her in my daily life in the most special and unexpected ways and I am truly honored to celebrate her life by riding. Samantha was a PMC Pedal Partner and she always hoped to become a rider herself someday. I hope that the funds raised will help to enable this year's pedal partners to overcome cancer, grow up as survivors, and become fellow PMC-ers in the future, just as Samantha had hoped to do.
I am also riding in honor of my mom, Diane Mahan! She finished her treatment for breast cancer in the spring of 2014 and is CANCER FREE and doing great! Crossing the PMC finish line and getting the biggest hug from her is always the highlight of my ride and is LIVING PROOF that the dollars raised through these events truly do make a difference. Hopefully someday everyone's experience with cancer can end positively like my mom's has.
Continuing on with the LIVING PROOF theme, my uncle, Tom Mahan, is one of my favorite examples. I have been lucky enough to ride with him many times since I began my PMC journey ten years ago even while he continues to battle multiple myeloma.
I am excited and ready to take on this challenge again and I hope that you will support me in this journey! I truly appreciate your support and know that your donations will make a difference in the fight against cancer. 100% of donations made go directly to Dana Farber and WILL have an impact on the effort to find a cure for this disease!
Thank you for your support!!
Much love,
Eva
