Last year, I volunteered at the PMC for the first time. My parents have ridden for years, but I never made it out to the course because of summer camp or job obligations. I only caught a glimpse of their tired faces after training rides and thought, I'm never going to do that. I knew the PMC was a large fundraiser, but I was floored as thousands of people poured into Mass Maritime last year. Despite their sweaty and exhausted appearances, I found myself yearning to be a part of it. I was inspired by the plethora of people from different backgrounds and places, all coming together for cancer research. When I was 7, my mom was diagnosed with Leukemia. Cancer research and a bone marrow transplant saved her life, and now I'm riding 162 miles for her team: Precision for Kids. 100 percent of every dollar I raise goes directly to Dana-Farber and supports meaningful, life-changing research.
