As I write this and think back to my first Pan Mass, I cannot believe it is 19 years later. 19 years since my Dad was given 3 weeks to live, 19 years that our family was turned upside down, 19 years of missing anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, our weddings, his grandchildren. My dad passed away far too early at the age of 65.
For those of you who never knew him, my Dad was the kindest, most gentle man. Towering at 6’ 4”, he was a gentle giant. Sparkling blue eyes, dark hair and a smile that warmed any heart. He loved his 3 girls, and was devastated when he knew he would be leaving us. I first started riding the PMC to remember my Dad, it was my way of healing. After 19 years, I have come to realize it is so much bigger. The PMC has a footprint on finding a cure for cancer.
The PMC has raised over $831 million for Dana Farber in its 42 years. My personal goal this year is to raise $8,300 which will bring my 19 year contribution to $100,000. There are thousands of people who ride and fundraise for this event. If you sponsor another rider, thank you for all you do! If you don’t, please consider sponsoring my ride this year. Any amount helps. I ride for my Dad, grandparents, friends, family and a long list of people near and dear to our hearts.
