I'm excited to share that this year, instead of volunteering, I will be riding in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) alongside Bill and our colleagues from St. Lawrence University!
My participation will be in memory of my dad, Russ Sample, who we lost to kidney cancer in Hailey, Idaho in June 2018. More specifically, I'll be riding for the Centers for Early Detection and Interception program which is actively involved in improving early cancer diagnosis in small communities throughout the United States.
Among his many passions in life, my dad was an avid cyclist. He enjoyed cycling the bike paths of the Netherlands and the mountain trails of Killington, VT and Sun Valley, Idaho.
The PMC is a Boston area bike-a-thon that raises funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber has been recognized as one of the top three cancer centers in the world. 100% of rider-raised funds goes to Dana Farber.
The event will be held from Aug 2-3, and the 186 mile course is known as the Sturbridge to Provincetown Monument Route. It’s a two day ride from the hills of Central Mass to the very tip of Cape Cod.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Dana-Farber, fueling groundbreaking research, providing vital patient care, and supporting innovative programs that benefit both children and adults battling cancer. Your contribution, no matter the size, will have a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by this devastating illness.
We invite you to make a donation - together, we can help bring hope to patients and families facing cancer and work towards a future free of this disease.
Thank you for your support and generosity. Let’s ride together towards a world without cancer!
