Why I Ride ...
On August 6th, I will be cycling in day one (80 miles) of the 2-day, Pan-Mass Challenge to benefit the Jimmy Fund. I am asking your help in raising money for the great work the Jimmy Fund does in the field of cancer research (part of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute focused on childhood cancers). I will be riding on Team Perry, a group of over 70+ spirited riders who collectively raised over $400,000 last year.
While the ride is quite a challenge, it is nothing compared to the battle young children and families fighting cancer are engaged in. As most of you know I unfortunately lost my mother to cancer and while my participation in this ride will not bring her back to me, my participation in this ride will help the amazing team of researchers and doctors continue to find cures and treatments for this horrible disease. Thanks to the millions of dollars spent on cancer research each year, today more people are defeating cancer and living fulfilling lives as a result.
With your help, we can win this battle. Please consider giving generously to this cause. The money I raise will be allocated to the Perry S. Levy Fund for Gastrointestinal Cancer Research* at Dana Farber. All donations are tax-deductible and over 100%of every dollar raised goes directly to the charity. Donations can be made via credit card by clicking on the egift icon on this page.
To honor the memory of those we have lost to cancer. To give hope and courage to those who battle cancer today and in the future. This is a bicycle ride for life.
*Perry S. Levy, the late husband of my dear friend Melissa Jacoby, our team captain, passed away from gastrointestinal cancer. This form of cancer is rare yet deadly and as such, is not broadly researched. Team Perry has raised over $2,500,000 for this fund and is now funding two fellows at Dana Farber focused on researching colon cancer in the hopes of finding a cure. Please give generously.
